During this project, students were tasked with creating an advertising campaign for any musical act promoting an upcoming concert. Deliverable consisted of one Instagram post, an Instagram story, a large-format outdoor sign, and a medium-sized poster. I chose the band TWRP. To begin, I created 5 thumbnail sketches and calls to action for each deliverable, and received feedback from my peers on which design to move forward with. After being given the go-ahead, I began some rough ideas in Adobe Illustrator before moving to Indesign as the project progressed.
I received several more rounds of feedback and had one-on-one discussions with professor about the direction of the project. I shortened my call to action, added elements to aid in readability, and finalized my ideas. Once I was happy with the result, I moved on to Photoshop mockups to put my deliverables in real-life scenarios.
Through this project, I demonstrated my proficiency in several areas: ideation, adaptability, digital illustration, typesetting, color management, and compositing.

Photoshop
The task for this assignment was to create an original design that employed a combination of specified Photoshop techniques. It could be anything, print or digital, as long as it involved a real company, followed their brand guidelines, and was on par with something a professional would create. We were graded accordingly to these restrictions and required to draft an in-depth report alongside the final deliverable. The company I decided on was Black Bear Diner, a restaurant chain known for their creative ads and family-friendly atmosphere. A direct mailer would be a perfect addition, and as it was getting close to Easter at the time, I used that theme as my guiding star. My initial sketches and designs were bare-bones, and formed the basis for the rest of the project. I then began complex compositing and typesetting.
As I refined the front and back of the mailer, I was able to locate the exact font that the company uses for promotional materials, bringing it that much more in line with my vision. While the back of the mailer was not required, I believe it was necessary to elevate the deliverables' overall professionalism and realism. My full creative process as well as techniques used and in-depth progress photos can be found in the report linked below.
After completing the digital design of the mailer, I went on to create a mockup, simulating how the final printed piece would look in real life. It is intended to be a large 9x6 self-mailer, printed front and back.
Through this project, I demonstrated my proficiency in several areas: color management, layer styles, adjustment layers, compositing, complex selections and retouching.

For this assignment, I was tasked to encompass my thoughts on design as a whole into a manifesto, expressed through the medium of a print booklet. I wanted the design of the booklet to match my philosophy on design-- bursting with life, no matter how insignificant it may seem at times. These thoughts fueled my first four sketches. During these initial sketches, I found myself drawn to imagery of birds, and the controlled chaos of overlapping shapes.
When moving my chosen sketch into Indesign, I stayed true to my 8-page plan. However, it became obvious that the spacing was cramped, creating large amounts of tension. Peers critiquing me also often did not know where their eyes should land first on many pages. I would have to expand to 12 pages in order to ease the flow of reading as well as further flesh out my ideas. The final design is far more bright and dynamic while retaining my original vision of controlled chaos and passion for design.
After completing the design of the booklet, I would go on to create a Photoshop mockup, simulating how the final printed and bound piece would look in real life.
Through this project, I demonstrated my proficiency in several areas: ideation, color management, typesetting, and compositing.

831 Yasai
Tokyo Ramen
Illustrator, Photoshop
I worked with the owner of Yasai Tokyo Ramen from early July to mid August of 2023, then recently in February of 2024 to add some new items. The Sedona-based Japanese restaurant has a casual, cantina-style atmosphere that guided my thinking on how to proceed when beginning this project. It was to be a large, 11x17in placemat menu with large text and pictures of their main dishes proudly displayed. I received photos of their dishes and performed retouching and background removal in Photoshop before placing them on the menu in Illustrator along with their restaurant name, logos, and menu items. I also created Vegan and Gluten-Free emblems to place as needed. After completing the project in August 2023, the client printed and laminated 15 menus for their establishment.
During correspondence, I archived each step of my process, which you may view below.
With this menu project, I strengthened my typesetting skills and demonstrated my proficiency working with real-life clients.
While working with Yasai, I was also asked to create several designs for employee t-shirts. Plans ended up falling through on this, but I still consider them some of my strongest designs. The first design, like the menu, plays into the casual dining experience that the restaurant provides, and would have likely been worn by servers as well as for sale in the front of the restaurant. The sleeker, second set of designs focused more on the quality of the food and would have been worn by kitchen staff. I gave my client a multitude of options to choose from and implemented feedback at every step.
With this project, I showed my skills in logo design and iteration.

GIT 402,
Cauldron Cosplay
Illustrator, Photoshop
For this project, I was tasked with creating a series of graphics and social media posts for a real or imagined Etsy seller. Coincidentally, my boyfriend Daniel was beginning to set up his Etsy shop at the same time. I was able to work with him directly throughout the entire process which made the final result that much more accurate to his vision for the shop. I first worked in Illustrator on creating two logos for him-- one contains the full name of the shop, Cauldron Cosplay, and the other is a simple lettermark with the two "C"s intertwined.
Prior to this project, Daniel had already made a profile picture for his accounts (left), which he asked me to critique and revise into a more cohesive and visually stunning design. We decided to keep the green and black colorscheme and spooky vibes from this iteration, as well as solidify his mascot character, Malt, as the main focus. I began experimenting with specific colors from there.
I ultimately chose an analogous yellow, green, and blue palette to capture the fun, yet slightly mysterious nature of the original profile image. A generous helping of outer glow would also aid in this effect. Moving onto the profile image proper, I had Malt popping out of the cauldron to create a cuter, more centered design. The bubbles around the cauldron also help to frame him when cropped to a circle. I also did the same with the second mascot, Smoothie. From there, I made banner images in varying aspect ratios for Etsy, Facebook, X, and YouTube as per the assignment description (all of which can be seen in the link below).
I was also tasked to make posts for Instagram, X, and Facebook, as well as a mockup "freeze-frame" from a YouTube upload. The X post (above) was handled once more in Illustrator, while the other pieces required real examples of Daniel's work and were completed in Photoshop.
For the Instagram post, I took a picture of one of Daniel's commission pieces, and used a gradient filter and layer mask to bring the background of the image in line with the branding I had created. Similarly for the YouTube still, I took a photo of him working on a current project and added a lower third title and green border in a similar style to the other posts to simulate a montage. The Facebook progress update was also done in a similar manner, paying close attention to brand guidelines.
Through this project, I demonstrated my proficiency in several areas: working with real clients, digital illustration, logo design, photography, and compositing.

Boulder Creek
High School
Illustrator
As the last project for my high school graphic design internship, I was tasked with creating a billboard to congratulate my graduating class. I had already done many large-format signs and banners for the school, but it was an honor to be put in charge of something so grand in scale. A couple of revisions were made after my first pass at the design, and I worked closely with my professor and office staff to ensure a result suitable for printing. The design was made entirely in Illustrator so that it could be easily scaled up to the appropriate size.
Through this project, I demonstrated learning and improvement in working with real-life clients, typesetting, and large format design.

Over the course of a 7.5-week class, I was tasked to design and iterate on an informational poster or infographic. This was done in five stages according to the course requirements: Written Proposal (see in full report below), Copywriting and Typography, Design, Layout, and Refinement (pictured above). I utilized critique from both my professor and my peers to continue to elevate and experiment with this piece. I improved my understanding of visual hierarchy, strengthened my eye for layout design, and struck a pleasant balance between graphical elements and white space.
Through this project, I demonstrated my proficiency in copywriting, as well as the principles of design and visual communication (see more in the full report below).
